A comforter (in American English), next known as a doona in Australian English,[1] or a continental quilt (or helpfully quilt) or duvet in English, is a type of bedding made of two lengths of fabric or covering sewn together and filled similar to insulative materials for warmth, traditionally the length of or feathers, wool or cotton batting, silk, or polyester and other alongside exchange fibers. similar to quilts, comforters are generally laid higher than a summit bed sheet (and sometimes along with blankets). Duvets are different form of quilt, traditionally filled with feathers, though previously the late 20th century often made of synthetic fibres or the length of alternatives.
A comforter is sometimes covered for protection and prolonged use. Comforter covers are similar in principle to pillowcases, usually closed afterward zippers or buttons.
In the allied Kingdom the term comforter is not generally used. It is on the other hand called a quilt (or continental quilt), duvet or an eiderdown. A duvet differs in that it is thicker and usually used without blankets or new sheets.
Sometimes a comforter is sold as allowance of a "bed in a bag", usually a raid of some sort gone handles that contains an entire set of bedding in the similar or a matching pattern: comforter and top sheet, fitted sheet, pillowcase(s), and perhaps pillow sham(s).
